In Enchantoria, a spell is any card in the game that can be played. All cards in a player's hand or deck are considered spells, regardless of whether they have been played or not. Each spell has specific attributes such as its type (or name), element, mana cost, and effect, and these characteristics dictate how it interacts with other game mechanics.
Some spells in Enchantoria have a variable mana cost denoted as "X", allowing the player casting the spell to choose the amount of mana spent when casting the spell. The chosen value for "X" determines the spell's effect, as described on the card
Spells are associated with various elements, each representing a different type of magic. The element determines the nature and effect of the spell but may influence gameplay.
Spells are often categorized into three main types: Offensive, Defensive, and Summoning. Each type defines the spell's primary purpose and may affect gameplay.
Offensive spells are often designed to harm or disadvantage other players.
Defensive spells are often designed to protect the caster or allies by mitigating or countering harmful effects.
Summoning spells are often designed to bring creatures or constructs into play, which can perform actions or have special abilities.
Each spell also indicates its associated element (e.g. Offensive Fire Spell) in their spell type, specifying both its category and element. Some spells may include additional keywords that represent special rules.
Sigils are a special type of card that provide Essence (see 3.3). Sigils are denoted by the keyword "Sigil" in their spell type that replaces the word "Spell" (e.g. "Fire Sigil"). While Sigils are cast the same way as spells, they are not counted as spells for gameplay purposes.
